Before they scroll off the public Web access, here are two Dilbert comic strips on impractical approaches to security.
Friday, 16 Nov 2007 - Mordac the Preventer of Information Services tells the office's staff, "Security is more important than usability. ... In a perfect world, nobody would be able to use anything." The strip ends with an employee gets a login prompt telling him to stare directly at the sun before completing the login.
Saturday, 17 Nov 2007 - Mordac introduces a new biometric method to replace password. It uses a person's unique screams to verify identity as a clamp is applied to the person's head and tightened.
Apparently Mordac never bother with the security concept of "CIA: Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability" nor paid attention to good security thinkers such as Bruce Schneier. What will Mordace think of next? Oh, maybe something like a policy requiring the deletion of the crypto keys after data is encrypted. That will keep the data safe, eh!
